In general, an alcohol hangover involves two or more the following symptoms: headache, nausea, diarrhea, and lack of appetite, shakiness, feeling tired and an overall feeling of being unwell. Simply put, it feels like the "flu".
There are numerous changes in the balance of hormones, neurotransmitters and other biological substances in the body. Contrary to popular belief strong coffee, increased physical activity, "greasy foods" or a cold shower do nothing to speed up the metabolism of alcohol in the body and therefore do nothing to help a hangover
To prevent hangover try the following tips:
Avoid alcohol. Just realize that excessive drinking of alcohol is what causes most hangovers. The next steps assume that you are planning on a night of drinking.
Eat a good dinner before you go out. If you can stomach it, drink some milk or olive oil. The food will absorb some of the alcohol you are about to drink, and the milk or olive oil will line your stomach, creating a protective layer.
Continue eating as you drink. Fats will put a brake on alcohol absorption, while eating sugars will replace the sugar stores that the booze removes from your liver.
Drink a glass of water after every alcoholic drink. Alcohol dehydrates your body--this causes the headaches and other aches you feel during a hangover. One glass of water in between every glass of alcohol is a good principle.
Avoid getting into buying rounds among your friends, as this will just encourage you to drink more. Instead, just buy your own drinks at your own pace, or agree to a certain budget with your companions.
Drink another glass or two of water when you return home, and, if possible, have something else to eat, especially a banana or two.
Take a multivitamin or liver salts before bed to replace the vitamins and minerals lost as a result of drinking alcohol. If you ate a good meal before going out, this step may be unnecessary. But better safe than sorry.
Hangover Home Remedy
Consume a lot of water before you go to bed. This should provide some relief to the dehydrating effects of alcohol. Drink lots of water even after you wake up.
Eat some food . Its a good practice to eat something while and after your are drinking. This helps reduce the rate at which alcohol enters your blood and thus can help reduce the after-effects.
Take vitamin C tablets. These help break down the alcohol content in your body.
Eating peanut butter before drinking is a good remedy
Eating 6 raw almonds before imbibing helps prevent intoxication.
Evening primrose oil helps prevent hangovers. Take two teaspoons.
Eating a meal high in saturated fat causes the effects of alcohol to peak earlier and last longer than diets high in polyunsaturated fat.
Sports drinks , high in electrolytes, will help replenish what the kidneys have excreted during drinking. Take before bedtime.
To help stop the urge for alcohol drink a tangy drink, such as tomato with the juice of one lemon added.
One of the best preventive measures is to drink 2-3 large glasses of water before you go to bed. Drinking alcohol is very dehydrating and hydrating your system helps counteract the effects of the alcohol.

Exercise will help get rid of your hangover by helping the body rid itself of toxins. The increased circulation gets blood and oxygen to your oxygen-starved brain.
A good, brisk walk will also increase circulation with the results mentioned above.
